Parents at TechWolf
Balancing careers and family with flexibility
At TechWolf, flexibility and empathy aren’t just workplace perks—they’re integral to the company culture. For parents like Jonas and Kimberly, this environment enables them to excel professionally while being present for their families. Here’s how they navigate the challenges of parenthood while thriving in a fast-paced scale-up environment.
Kimberly: Bridging product and parenthood
From law to tech
Kimberly joined TechWolf’s product team in June as a Technical Product Manager. With six years in tech and a background in law, she thrives in her role, where she bridges business value with technical execution.
“Every day is different,” she shares. “My focus is on balancing the business value we’re creating and translating that into what we’re actually building.”
Tackling the mental load
For Kimberly, balancing work and family means managing a constant mental load. “You have so many hats on all the time, and you need to switch very quickly,” she explains. “You want to do everything well, but that’s not always possible.”
She credits the tech industry for fostering a meritocratic environment. “In tech, it’s not about what you’ve been doing for the last ten years—it’s about what you’re doing now. That makes it an empowering space for women and parents.”
TechWolf perks for parents
Kimberly highlights the support she’s received at TechWolf. “Our cafeteria plan is fantastic. I cover hospitalization insurance for my whole family, and summer camps are partially reimbursed. I even bought four extra vacation days to accommodate last-minute plans.”
Flexibility is embedded in the culture. “At TechWolf, as long as you’re honest about what you need, people are empathetic. I leave at 4:30 PM on Mondays and Fridays, and that’s non-negotiable. It’s in my calendar, and no one questions it.”
Kimberly’s advice to parents
Her advice for parents considering a scale-up career? “Set your own rules—there’s room for it. Invest in yourself with small changes that make life easier, like a vacuum robot or grocery delivery. And remember, boundaries are yours to set. No one else will do it for you."
Jonas: Driving HR Transformation While Raising a Family
From corporate consulting to scale-up impact
Jonas joined TechWolf over a year ago as an HR Transformation Consultant, bringing experience from a large consulting firm. At TechWolf, he ensures customers maximize the product’s potential while embedding it into HR processes. At home, he’s a father of two young children.
“I wanted a role where I could make more impact,” Jonas says. “At TechWolf, I get to contribute my expertise while being part of a team that values both professional and personal commitments.”
Managing time with family
The biggest challenge for Jonas has been finding time for family in a demanding role. “With two kids, it’s harder to plan your days,” he shares.
He prioritizes family time by setting clear boundaries. “I block my calendar to leave at 6 PM every day, ensuring I have time with my kids before they go to bed. If I need to do more work, I’ll finish it after they’re asleep.”
Flexibility and understanding at TechWolf
Jonas appreciates TechWolf’s flexibility. “If your child is sick, you can take them to the doctor without anyone questioning it. If you need a longer lunch break for family reasons, you can make up the time later. The understanding is always there.”
Jonas’s advice to parents
“Don’t be afraid to make the jump into a scale-up,” he advises. “It’s a modern way of working, and the flexibility makes it ideal for parents. The fact that you’re considering it shows you’re ambitious, and ambition thrives in this environment.”
Jonas also values the mentorship opportunities within TechWolf. “Younger colleagues often come to me for advice on work-life balance or transitioning to parenthood. It’s rewarding to share my experiences and help them navigate similar challenges.”
